"Let's get out of here" and "I'm not eating anymore, I swear": in a video that has gone viral, a horrified Italian couple filmed a worm emerging from an oyster in a sushi restaurant. The scene took place Sunday evening in Corciano, near Perugia, reports Il Corriere dell'Umbria .

The couple quickly alerted the restaurant owners, who apologized profusely and offered them dinner.

The restaurateurs then tried to defuse the emerging controversy, explaining that the presence of the worm was almost reassuring: "We of course immediately inquired about what could have happened and contacted our supplier in Rome: it is not a parasite and it does not present any danger," the owner assured Corriere dell'Umbria .

"It's only found in fresh fish, which means our oysters were fresh. It's a marine worm from the polychaete annelid family. We've of course requested additional checks, but we want to make it clear that we're very rigorous and that this video is causing us significant harm," he continues.
